How To Know What To Do When You Don’t Know What To Do?

It’s so easy to overthink things or talk yourself out of doing something. So how do you make the best decision or decide what you want to do when you have no idea what you want to do? That’s a tongue twister! Try this exercise the next time you have a big decision you want to make in your life.

Make a list of 10 people either living or deceased that you know or don’t know in your life that you admire and WHY you admire them. The why is very important because it will lead you on the path to knowing your core values. Once you’ve got your list, circle any repetitive characteristics you see on the list. For example, some people on my list are: Bob Marley, Martin Luther King Jr., Marie Forleo, and Pink. What they all have in common to me is their courage, creativity, hard working, authentic and want(ed) to make a positive impact on the world in some way. These are some of my core values that I believe are important to me at this time in my life. Therefore, when I am faced with a decision, I can ask myself if doing this fits in with my values? The answer can then determine which action to take. Knowing your core values provides clarity. I hope this helps you the next time you are faced with a big decision.
